War is an inextricable part of life for millions of people.

Being performed by two 15-year-old boys, this song has a particular pathos as we remember just how young some of the lives lost to conflict can be. Peter and Steven combine their emotive voices with mellow, folk harmonies to tell the moving story.

The lyrics hold a paradox. Battles can forge the strongest friendships. Two boys can enter a fight as friends and emerge as brothers, bound together by the fear and danger of what they have experienced together. And yet - the song asks - why is it that we so rarely have the imagination to extend the compassion we feel for our ally to our enemy? If we allowed ourselves to accept and respect their humanity for a brief moment would we see the futility of it all?
